Coming over to London just in time for a white Christmas, making sure I had some appropriate winter footwear was definitely on my radar. I hadn’t worn boots in so long, partly because it just didn’t get cold enough in Auckland but also as it’s so hard to find a pair that fit in with my vintage style. Enter the Aspen booties from Royal Vintage Shoes, the cutest and warmest boots ever! Read all about these beauties after the jump.
Based on the overshoes by Montgomery Ward, this style takes the original galoshes and recreates them as regular boots. In keeping with the originals they feature a cosy houndstooth wool lining and soft velveteen upper, and they’re adorably finished off with ethically sourced black sheepskin trim. The heel height of 1.6″ is high enough to be elegant but not so high that you’re at risk of slipping over in rainy/snowy conditions. Being inspired by a true vintage style means they’ll perfectly top off your vintage winter wear while keeping your tootsies toasty!
Royal Vintage Shoes recommends ordering your regular size in the Aspen booties (unless you have a wider foot), so I got my usual US size of 6.5 and they fit perfectly. It hasn’t got quite cold enough yet but I feel they could still fit a pair of woolly socks without being too tight, especially as you can adjust how tightly you tie the laces. Having worn them out and about in London a few times already I can testify that they’re super comfortable and so very warm!
You can purchase the Aspen booties directly from the Royal Vintage website for $195USD. They’re worth 1950 Royal Rewards points, which equates to $19.50 off your next order! If you’re a fan of the Aspen booties you’ll be pleased to know that they’re also available in a red/black colourway. Royal Vintage will ship worldwide, but if you’re in the UK and want to avoid customs fees (something I have to deal with now so I’m hyper aware!) then you can buy from local stockist Revival Retro.
