Aurora dress│Dolly & Dotty

The weather’s getting warmer and the days are getting longer – is that spring I can see just around the corner? After going through back to back winters due to our move to the northern hemisphere I have to say that while I’ve enjoyed all the lush fabrics that winter brings, I’m also super excited to finally get out all my summer dresses! Today for the blog I’ve styled the Aurora dress from Dolly and Dotty, which I think is a perfect piece to take you into spring – see more after the jump.

To me a classic black and white dress is a great piece to take you through from winter into spring and beyond, as you can pair it with darker colours and a coat in cooler temperatures and then start adding pops of colour as the months go along. Even though we shot this series on an absolutely freezing day (3 degrees I think!), I couldn’t go past my favourite all yellow accessories to give this look a summery feel, but it’s so versatile that it will go with literally all colours. The style itself is a simple stretch cotton sleeveless fit and flare, so easy to add a cardigan to while you still need layers and with a skirt so full you don’t even need a petticoat to fill it out. I would usually wear a size UK6, but in the Aurora dress I’m rocking a UK8 as that’s the lowest size Dolly & Dotty go down to. Once I cinched it a little with a belt it was a really great fit, and the skirt hits right on the knee for me. Currently you can nab this dress for £18/$24USD, such a bargain!

  1. Love Dolly & Dotty – you can get such cute dresses without hurting your wallet! That’s such a treat! I am envious of all the color local to you. People here are so afraid of color – everything is so neutral. I did recently drive past a building that was a pinky hue with coral window frames, however, and have logged it mentally to visit the next time an outfit needs such colors!!
