I first featured Royal Vintage Shoes on the blog back in December 2015, when they were starting to make a name for themselves. Fast-forward to today, where they’ve got a huge social media following and they’re making their own shoes! How amazing is that?! I was so excited to try one of their in-house designs, and they’ve certainly made it hard to choose with their delightful mixture of 1920s to 40s inspired styles. Eventually I settled on the Nita heel, and I’m completely in love! Find out why these shoes are so good and see how I’ve styled them after the jump below.
I haven’t worn a much black clothing for years, and so my wardrobe was empty of black heels to match. But thanks to more novelty and floral skirts with black backgrounds entering my wardrobe recently (plus purchasing my first black top in forever), I was on the hunt for a pair of black heels. I knew I wanted something comfy, especially as I’m prone to blisters in summer and while walking to and from work, as well as sturdy and of course chic. Well the Nita heels tick all of these boxes and more!
They are an exquisite 1940s style strappy heel, based on an original vintage shoe pattern. Even the heel itself is moulded directly after a true 40s shoe heel, and at 3” in height with a wide base it’s a great height without being too high. The black suede exterior is luscious and makes for a heel that can easily go from day to night. And the strappy D’Orsay style, fastening with an adjustable ankle strap, is so flattering; I don’t think my feet have ever looked so elegant!
The Royal Vintage Shoes website advises that the Nita heels run true to size, so I ordered my usual size US6.5, which is equivalent to an NZ/AU6, UK4.5, or EU37. As soon as I put them on it was like walking on air; they’re just so comfortable! The buttery leather moulds to your feet, getting softer with each wear, and the footbed is padded leather with arch support. The fit is perfect, and especially great for my narrow feet. I’ve worn my Nita heels out and about a few times now and even though the summer weather has made my feet swell a bit these shoes have still been the epitome of comfort. Now I’m crossing my fingers for more colours in these most amazing heels – I’d definitely buy them all!
The Nita heel can be purchased via the Royal Vintage Shoes website for $145USD, and almost all sizes are available. RVS ship worldwide from the US, and multiple shipping options are available depending on how fast you want your shoes to arrive and how much you want to pay. You can also earn Royal Rewards with every purchase, with every 10 cents spent equating to one Royal Rewards point. Every hundred Royal Rewards points can then be redeemed for $1USD, so you can get a discount on your next purchase or save your points for a free pair of shoes. That sounds like a great excuse to buy more shoes to me!

A huge thank you to the super talented Royal Vintage Shoes team! I couldn’t be prouder for them to see how much they’ve grown (and are still growing!) and I am so happy to be representing them as a brand ambassador for another year. There will definitely be another RVS blog post coming soon because I’ve been eyeing up their February pre-orders and they are to die for! Make sure you’re following RVS on Instagram and Facebook to keep up with their news and new styles. And thank you as always to @cmjsnz for taking my photo, this time outside the Auckland Baptist Tabernacle church.
