The Oblong Box Shop to me is synonymous with the best novelty prints! Owner and designer Denialle Von Fitch dreams up the most delightful creations that really capture the imagination and make you feel like you’re a walking piece of art. Today I am so lucky to get to style one of her latest pieces – the Cactus Dreams skirt!
I find that gathered skirts are the best for showing off a brilliant novelty print; as they use a lot of fabric that means you get to see even more of your favourite print! The Cactus Dreams skirt is gathered perfectly, really showing off the design and all its beautiful colours in a sunrise across the desert. I chose to pick out the blue-green hue on the horizon for my top and then accessorise with red, but there are so many other combinations you could do by picking out different colours in the print. Each Cactus dreams skirt is made from over 4 yards of medium-weight polyester fabric, which sits really well with or without a petticoat and is so light for warmer weather. This type of fabric also means that nearly no ironing is required, which is always a plus in my book! And did I mention that it has a side pocket? There are just too many good things about this skirt!
The Oblong Box Shop makes skirts in sizes S to 3XL, covering waist sizes from 26″ to 41″. I’m wearing a size S, which corresponds to measurements of 26-27″ per the size guide. Though my waist size is 24″, I didn’t find the Cactus Dreams skirt too big. I have added a belt to cinch my waist in and tie in with the rest of my accessories for this shoot, but I could have easily gone without. These skirts are also designed with an extra 1″ on the waistband so that the button can be moved in either direction if you find the fit is just a little too loose or snug – how great is that? The Cactus Dreams skirts measure 26″ long across all sizes, and can easily fit a two-layer petticoat underneath if you want some extra volume.
The Cactus Dreams skirt is available via The Oblong Box Shop website for $120USD/$160NZD. Shipping is available within the US for $9USD, or internationally up to $17USD. This skirt is part of the Cactus Dreams collection which also features a cardigan and flare skirt, as well as accessories to compliment the print. Denialle’s prints often sell out really fast so I recommend getting in quick if you have your eye on something!
