Each year seems to go quicker than the next and 2016 has been no exception. I feel that this year has been a whirlwind as I’ve gotten more into posting on my blog and Instagram, been busier at work, finished off what is hopefully the last of my studies, and been fortunate enough to take a couple of holidays. Luckily I thrive on being busy and so have settled into a fast-paced rhythm, though I’m hoping it will slow a little in 2017 as there are so many good shows on Netflix that I need to watch!
Outfits:
I have culled a lot of things in my wardrobe this year, especially in the last few months, to the point that I can say I have a collection of favourites. I always love finding new ways to wear clothes to breathe new life into them, and I like to think I’ve gotten better at that this year. There have also been a number of amazing vintage pieces that have found their way into my arms in 2016, and I hope to find more next year to grow my collection. Here is a small selection of my most beloved outfits of this year:
Some of you may have noticed that yellow is my favourite colour, and in particular that I work it into my outfits every Friday – or Sunshine Friday, as I call it. It gives me something to look forward to each week as these are some of my most treasured outfits to wear and means there is rarely a Friday where I’m not humming my way through the day. Here are all of my Sunshine Friday outfits for 2017 for your viewing pleasure:
Blog posts:
I have been honoured to be able to work with some fantastic brands this year, including Gatsbylady, Woody Ellen and Moxie Mama Wear, Sew Vintage by Natalia, Vivien of Holloway, Karina Dresses, Love Ur Look Clothing, Voodoo Vixen, Royal Vintage Shoes, Pigtails & Pirates, Lady K Loves, Doris Designs – and the list goes on! It is truly such a pleasure and so humbling to be able to put together blog posts to support these incredible brands and to help even a little bit in getting the word out there about the great work they do. I have also started to put some of my favourite vintage pieces on the record during the year which I plan to continue doing next year.

But of course these blog posts would not look nearly so good if it weren’t for the creative talents of the photographers I work with.
Katherine from The Undefined Photography approached me halfway through the year about working together and since then we have such fun shoots with amazing output (she makes me look so good!) and I have gained a wonderful friend in the process. She also has her own blog, The Wardrobe, which you can check out here and on Instagram.
@cmjsnz has photographed me more times than I can count this year and I am in awe as I look back at the images we have produced. We’ve found some terrific locations to shoot in (including in Dallas and Nashville which I never would have thought would happen!), and I always so grateful for his patience and creative vision.

USA trip:
A definite highlight of 2016 was travelling to the USA for 3 weeks with @cmjsnz. We were lucky enough to see and experience things that we had previously only dreamed of (or things we didn’t even think were possible!), and met some great people and ate the most excellent food in the process! You can read all about our trip in more detail here, here, and here.
What’s on the agenda for 2017?
I am already in talks with fabulous brands, some I’ve worked with before and some new, to bring you even more great blog content. I also have a couple of trips planned – to Melbourne and London – which I am thoroughly excited about. Otherwise I look forward to whatever collaboration or other opportunities that the new year brings!
What have been your highlights of 2016, and what’s in store for your 2017? I’d love to know!

A highlight of my 2016 has been the little bit of whimsy and sunshine your blogs have brought into my inbox every week. It has reminded me that the most important thing in life is to be happy and enjoy yourself and don’t be afraid to let your personality shine!! This is something I have started to work on for myself, as life is too short to worry about what others think!! Thank you and have a wonderful 2017.
