Recently I was one of the lucky ladies to get a spot for a photo shoot with Kate Tovey Photography. I met Kate at the Very Vintage Day Out earlier this year and she was so lovely, plus she had advertised that the shoot would be in the style of ‘Old Hollywood Glamour’, so of course I jumped at the chance. Dressing up pretty and emulating babes from days gone by? Yes please!

Soon after I booked in with Kate, a beautiful red lace dress that I had bought from Sarah at BellaVintage arrived in the mail – and I knew it would be perfect! I then tied the look together with a huge red hair flower and lashings of red lipstick.

I was a bit worried about my hair because I’d booked in to get it cut that morning, so afterwards I had to quickly set it when I got home and hope that it dried in time! It also ended up being shorter than I intended, but this style actually worked really well for the shoot.

Kate was incredible to work with. She made me feel so comfortable and had so many on-point suggestions for ways of turning my face or sitting that would make the perfect shot. She was very encouraging, especially as this wasn’t my regular style. I also love that she gave me photo copies in colour AND black and white – what a star!
