Betty Barclay set│Mod & Fancy

I am thrilled to present my first vintage collaboration with Mod & Fancy! I wear a lot of true vintage day to day so getting to blog about it is a dream come true. Especially when it’s as adorable as this three piece 1950s set by Betty Barclay! Read more about Mod & Fancy and see just how accidentally Wes Anderson we got after the jump.

When Shannon from Mod & Fancy approached me for this collab, I was over the moon! I love to support small business like hers and getting to wear a fabulous dress from her shop is the icing on the cake. Shannon is super passionate about vintage – hands up who can relate? Definitely me! So much so that she quit her job and started Mod & Fancy so she could sell vintage full time, how brave is that?! Operating out of Massachusetts, USA (and she yes ships worldwide), Shannon hunts out superb vintage primarily from the 1950s – 80s and makes it look its best – this means washing, mending, steaming, and taking great photos. There’s so much hard work that goes into vintage! Now with over 200 Etsy sales, she’s teaching the world how amazing vintage can be, one piece at a time.

Mod & Fancy is a feast for the eyes thanks to Shannon’s excellent vintage-picking and presenting skills, so it was definitely a tough choice to choose a favourite! I settled on this three piece 1950s set by Betty Barclay, a ready-to-wear dress line originally part of the Jonathan Logan company and still in operation today. It’s made up of the dress, a matching jacket, and a self-fabric belt. This set is in such excellent condition, with no rips or holes, and for all three pieces to be so perfect is rare and a testament as to how much love Shannon puts into preparing her stock. And how stunning is that purple colour? It really pops and is so well contrasted with the bright blue and green flowers and vases scattered all over the cotton fabric. I’m also pleased to report that it fits me like a glove, so Shannon’s measurements were spot on!
