One of the things I love most about Christmas is an excuse to bring out my prettiest and most festive dresses, especially if they have that extra bit of sparkle! Well now I need to look no further than Gatsbylady for a festive season dress with all the bells and whistles. Owner and designer Roj was kind enough to let me try the Vegas dress with matching Vegas bag and Juliet flapper cap for today’s blog post, and I am definitely feeling like a shiny Christmas angel in this ensemble!
Gatsbylady dresses always have the most exquisite beading, but the detail on the Vegas dress is truly amazing! Glass beads and sequins have been intricately sewn all over the dress, and there are two layers of beaded fringe at the bottom which swishes when you walk or dance! The dress itself is sheer but comes with a cream slip, though this could be swapped out for a different colour if you wanted to mix things up. The V-neck and soft sleeves are very flattering, and the dress finishes just below the knee. The cream colouring of the dress is a warm hue and complimented by clear and white beads and sequins. I was desperate to try it even though I was worried it would wash me out, but I really don’t think it does. I had to pair it with my gold sparkly shoes for maximum glam, but it would also look really great (and of course have a festive vibe) with red accessories!
Sizing at Gatsbylady ranges from UK6-26, with almost all sizes still available in the Vegas style. I am wearing my usual UK size, a 6, though I have gone between a 6 and an 8 at Gatsbylady depending on the style and what has been available. Their dresses generally run true to size, though if you’re between sizes I recommend sizing up; the flapper dress style is meant to be more straight and shift-like than super figure-hugging like a wiggle dress, though of course how you want it to look it ultimately down to personal preference. I am really happy with the fit of the Vegas dress – it enhances my curves without being clingy, and especially skims nicely over my problem area of my tummy. I definitely felt both elegant and comfortable while wearing this dress!
The Vegas bag is the perfect match in name and design for the Vegas dress! The same beaded and sequinned shapes from the pattern on the dress are tied in superbly through the bag. There is a chain inside the bag that can be brought out if you want to carry it over your shoulder, or it can easily be tucked away to leave a clutch bag. The Vegas bag is well-structured and spacious, easily fitting the largest of phones plus all the things you might need for a night out like cards, lipstick, and keys. The top flap folds over and fastens with a magnetic clasp, making it easy to open and close. The cream satin lining is luxurious and there’s even a small pocket inside.
There is a matching headband for just about every dress at Gatsbylady, and they’ve recently started branching out into flapper caps too! Like the Vegas bag, the Juliet flapper cap perfectly matches the Vegas dress, with the same cream colouring and beading design. Each detail is hand-stitched onto a delicate but secure mesh base. You can choose to tie the lace ends back, or leave them loose as I have, depending on if you’re wearing your hair up or down.
All of the pieces I’m wearing in today’s post can be purchased directly from the Gatsbylady website. The Vegas dress retails for £139, while the Vegas bag and Juliet flapper cap are £29 and £25 respectively. Worldwide shipping is available, and if it’s your first order you can get 10% off your purchase!

A massive thank you to darling Roj from Gatsbylady for this collaboration! I always love getting to try her pieces as they are quite different to what I usually wear, and stunning of course! Make sure you’re following Gatsbylady on Facebook and Instagram for all their latest updates and news. And thank you to @cmjsnz for these snaps outside Auckland museum before it opened.
