You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! Just in time for our Southern Hemisphere summer I have a treat for the blog in the form of this ice cream print dress from UK brand Silly Old Sea Dog. I had to bring out the pink accents in this print, which then in turn inspired us to take a trip to Te Ara I Whiti, the pink lightpath, for this shoot! 

Of course the fabric of this dress is something to gander at! Made from 100% cotton, it features strawberry, lime, banana, and chocolate scoops of ice cream in classic cones, all atop a warm brown background. The design is made in a traditional 1950s style from a vintage inspired pattern, with a gathered V neck bust that’s very flattering and doesn’t dip too low. The waist panel highlights the hourglass silhouette before billowing out into a gathered skirt that has enough sweep to fit a two-layer petticoat underneath. The sweet cap sleeves are lined with yellow polka dot cotton, and the dress comes complete with pockets! Overall this is such a fun design and print, and I can’t wait to rock it (preferably with an ice cream in hand) this summer!

Sizing at Silly Old Sea Dog ranges from UK6-28, and their ice cream dress is currently available in sizes UK6-20. I am wearing my usual UK size, a 6, which corresponds to a US2 or AU/NZ6. The measurements per the size chart are 31.5” in the bust and 24.5” in the waist, and the size 6 is an excellent fit (for reference my measurements are 32”-24”). This is one of Silly Old Sea Dog’s longer styles – brand founder Alison was very kind in accommodating my need to have my knees covered! The skirt length on the ice cream dress is 24.5”, and it falls just below the knee.

Shipping is very reasonable, starting at £5.50 for local UK shipping and £15 for international shipping. If you’d like to shop in person there might a Silly Old Sea Dog stall at a market near you!
