Navy Spots│Ruby Shoo

There’s no feeling quite like stepping into a new pair of heels, especially when they’re as artfully designed as those from Ruby Shoo! This London-based brand creates some of the most whimsical and quirky shoes around, and the icing on the cake is that there’s a matching bag for whichever style catches your eye. Their Autumn/Winter styles have recently been released, and my favourites were the Dee heels in Navy Spots and matching Belfast bag. Find out my thoughts and sizing recommendations below!

If you’re anything like me you might have spent time as a child thinking about your dream shoes and wondering if you could pull something like that off when you were grown up – or if they would even exist! Luckily Ruby Shoo totally understands the whole ‘dream shoe’ thing, as each pair they design is decidedly dreamy! The Dee heels in Navy Spots had me hooked at first glance as they’re everything I could ask for in a shoe; bold, beautifully adorned, and a little bit vintage-inspired. The team at Ruby Shoo are experts at pattern mixing to create a cohesive design, in this instance mixing navy-based tweed and geometric prints with faux suede edging and a polka dot lining, as well as felt flowers near the toes in a complimentary colour palette. Practically these shoes get my heart singing as well with their Mary Jane strap to hold my feet down, not-too-high 3″ heels, and overall feeling of being comfortable. As Ruby Shoo do whole sizes I opted for a size UK4/EU37, as these are my usual UK and EU sizes. Per the size chart these correspond to a US6; I’m usually a US6.5 so I did consider sizing up to be safe, but given that Ruby Shoo is a UK-based brand I felt confident choosing the UK4 and I have had no issues with the fit. The Dee heels can be purchased via the Ruby Shoo website for £55 (less VAT if you’re outside the UK), and most sizes are still available.

Being able to match your bag to your heels provides that extra level of elegance, as well as taking the pressure out of outfit planning! The Belfast bag in Navy has been expertly designed to compliment the Dee heels perfectly. The navy tweed is used over the majority of the bag, while the polka dot and faux suede fabrics are featured on the front panel. You can choose to either employ the carrying handle at the top of the bag, or if you’d prefer to wear it over your shoulder then you’ll find a longer strap coiled up inside which clips easily to the back. The Belfast bag has multiple pockets and compartments, and has been created to be a practical size that will fit all the essentials including the matching Como purse. You can purchase this bag via the Ruby Shoo website for £40 (less VAT if you’re outside the UK).

Delivery is available worldwide, and ranges from £3.50 (or free if your order is over £60) within the UK, to £24.95 all the way to New Zealand. Although international shipping costs are a little higher for shoes to cover the volume of the shoe box (as opposed to an item of clothing which can be rolled up tightly), if you live outside of the UK then this is compensated by VAT being taken off the price of your order. Ruby Shoo products, including those featured in this post, are proudly approved by PETA as being vegan friendly.

Thank you so much to Carla and the team at Ruby Shoo for this collaboration, and for creating such gorgeous accessories! Make sure you’re following Ruby Shoo on Instagram and Facebook to be first to see new designs. Thank you as well to @cmjsnz for taking these photos in Auckland CBD and not thinking I was (too) crazy when I got so excited about finding the perfect door for this shoot.
