Do you struggle to find the right tops to pair with your skirts and pants? I feel this is universal problem, so I’m here to help. Or rather, Vivien of Holloway is! I’ve been building up my collection of their classic slash neck tops, while being sure to try a couple of their newer styles, the mandarin top and Jenny cardigan. Read on to find out my thoughts and hopefully discover your new wardrobe staple!
Slash Neck Top:
The slash neck top is one of my absolute favourite tops to wear. Being made of a polyester/rayon/elastine blend fabric they’re super comfortable, have a little bit of stretch, and don’t even need ironing! The fabric is reasonably thick and warm, but still breathes well. Combined with the elbow length sleeve this means I get heaps of wear out of them from autumn right round to spring. The slash neck tops retail for £35 each, or £29 (less VAT) if you live outside of the EU. I’m wearing a size Small and the fit is great, and the neckline is super flattering. They come in lots of different colours but they sell out super fast so make sure to get in quick when there’s a new shipment. In addition to the colours shown here I also just got the Rouge shade which I can’t wait to wear!
The mandarin top is one of the newest on the Vivien of Holloway shelves, and I have to say I’m in love! I ordered as soon as they came out, nabbing the red and rose pink styles, and more colours are being added all the time. These tops are made of the same fabric blend as the slash neck tops, so they’re also super comfortable. With a shorter sleeve they’re great for the warmer months, and the mandarin collar detail is such a lovely touch. These tops retail for £28, or £23 without VAT, which is a very budget-friendly price for such a good quality top. The product page says that this style runs small, and though I’ve had no issues with my usual size Small I’d recommend contacting the customer service team if you’re unsure about which size to get.
It might be warming up over in the Northern hemisphere but for us down south it’s getting colder by the day! So the Jenny cardigan is a welcome addition to my wardrobe. It’s a 100% acrylic knit which is super cuddly and toasty warm! It features a shawl collar and buttons up the front with matching buttons. Best of all it’s cropped at the waist so it’s great for wearing over high-waisted dresses or pants, or not too bulky when tucked into a skirt. The sizing is generous in this style, so I’m wearing a Small but it is a little loose on me. The Jenny cardigan retails for £38 and is currently available in red and black, and there are also more colours on the way!
