Francine dress│Lindy Bop

I have long been a Lindy Bop fan, so I was absolutely thrilled to be asked to review one of their new releases on the blog! Based in the UK, they bring amazing prints and wardrobe staples to the vintage reproduction scene at a very budget-friendly price. I have been watching their collections go from strength to strength especially in the last year, which made it very hard to choose a favourite out of all their fantastic prints! In the end I settled on the gorgeous Francine dress – find out my thoughts on it below!

The Francine dress immediately caught my attention, mainly because of the fabric as I find the combination of the floral and stripe effect to be very reminiscent of true vintage dresses. This is seriously one of the most beautiful prints I’ve seen on a vintage reproduction dress; the blue roses are so delightful, and they’re interspersed with smaller red and white flowers on a buttery cream and azure blue background. And being almost 100% cotton you know that it’ll be a great choice for summer!

If the fabric of the Francine wasn’t drool-worthy enough, then let me tell you about the other fab details on this dress! Firstly, that sweetheart neckline – so flattering! The bodice is fitted, nipping in at the waist before going into a super gathered skirt, making for the amazing vintage silhouette we all love! It has a matching red belt, sweet little ruches on the sleeves, and the skirt falls a couple of inches below the knee. Aaaaaaaand (drumroll please) it has pockets! Bam! It’s like Lindy Bop packed all the amazing features into this dress because it’s basically perfect. I hope to see this in more colourways soon (pink? Yellow?!) because it is just TOO CUTE.

Lindy Bop caters for sizes UK6 – 26, as their goal is to create vintage inspired clothing to suit all shapes. I find that not all of their pieces go down to a UK6 (my usual size), and the Francine dress is one of them, so I went for  a UK 8 this time. I have bought a lot of Lindy Bop over the years, probably almost an equal amount of UK6 and UK8; I definitely think they are true to size and so while the UK8 is usually a little big on me it definitely still works for me. This is the case with the Francine dress, perhaps more so on this style in the bust as the neckline dips in both the front and back, but overall the fit is still super comfortable and not noticeable enough to require altering. For reference I am around 32″-24″, compared to the 33.5″-25.6″ on the UK size chart.

Want a Francine dress of your own? You can purchase through the Lindy Bop website for £34 which is such a reasonable price, though I recommend keeping an eye out for sales as they have them frequently and then you can get even more of a bargain! Delivery starts at £3 within the UK (or if you spend over £85 it’s free!) and international post is a flat rate of £8.99 with arrival expected in around 5 – 10 days.
