Review: Beachlover dress │1950s Glam

I love helping to point you lovelies in the direction of fabulous new businesses, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do this week! 1950s Glam is run by two lovely ladies from Sydney, Australia, who love the style, colour and glamour of the 1950s. Specialising in day and evening dresses in the 50s style, the 1950s Glam website is filled with gorgeous and timeless pencil and wiggle styles.

The Beachlover dress features a button up shirt-style halter neck top, an elasticated back, and a full circle skirt. The combination of buttons and the elasticated back means that the Beachlover can get over your head easily without ruining your hair, and that there’s no pesky zips! The full circle skirt is wonderfully twirly, letting you fit a nice fluffy petticoat underneath and falling a little below the knee. The material is a cotton/spandex blend in a crisp navy and white stripe, which immediately had me dreaming of summer!

I was really impressed with the fit of the Beachlover dress; I went for a size S which was the smallest available in this style, which per the product size chart measures 35″-27″. While these were a little larger than my measurements (for reference 33″-24″), I didn’t find the difference noticeable; I added a belt to cinch the waist, but this is something I would do with most dresses anyway. The Beachlover dress is available in sizes S-XL, as are all of their products, and they also have a dedicated plus size section for some styles which goes to 3XL. And if you’re after an evening dress you’ll be interested to know that the majority of these styles can be ordered custom made to measure, to make sure your gown fits you like a glove for your next special event.

The Beachlover dress is available from the 1950s Glam website and retails for $102.44NZD (you can convert the price based on your chosen currency). Take note: shipping is free on every order! Yes, anywhere in the world your shipping is free! How great is that? They also offer 30 day hassle-free returns, and are readily available to help you with any product questions. To keep up with 1950s Glam’s new releases you can follow them on Instagram, like them on Facebook, or sign up to their newsletter via their website which also gets you 10% off your first order!

Thank you so much to Isabella from 1950s Glam for this collaboration, and to @cmjsnz for the photography skills! We shot the Beachlover at the Modernist Garden (part of the Hamilton Gardens), which gave the perfect retro poolside vibe. And yes I did get into the kidney pool so I could recline on the sculptures! 🙂

  1. LOVE everything about this – especially that you got into the pool to pose on the sculptures! You go girl! I also can see you pairing many colors with this dress (as you do so expertly with everything!), Perhaps yellow or even green??? 😉
