Review: Full printed skirts │Vixen by Micheline Pitt

Designer and artist Micheline Pitt has recently launched her new label, Vixen by Micheline Pitt. Going by the tagline “Good Things for Bad Girls”, she’s putting her own spin on high quality vintage-inspired womenswear. From the first previews of Micheline’s work I’ve been intrigued and inspired, and then of course had to try a couple of pieces – the printed full skirts – for myself once they were released!

I first bought the Lipstick Print full skirt via Doll Me Up Inc during their Labor Day sale. I had umm-ed and ahh-ed over whether I truly needed it (always a problem when buying new things), especially as I don’t have any black tops so I would only be able to wear it with red and white. However, I knew these colours would make it a classic wardrobe staple, and there were of course the added bonuses of the gorgeous yet subtle print, the length and fullness of the skirt and (eep!) pockets. Once it arrived in all its glory I couldn’t wait to get it on my body and immediately pre-ordered the Makeup and Hair Print full skirt from Micheline’s Etsy shop which arrived soon after! I love the combination of pink, mint, black and white tones in the print, and the print itself features things like ‘Secret Weapon Hairspray’ and ‘Blood of my Enemies Nailpolish’ – so much fun!

The skirts are gathered at the waist for a truly poofy full skirt experience which is always a favourite of mine. The fullness makes them super flattering for any body shape by nipping you in at the waist for the ultimate 50s look. The length ranges from 26.5-28.5″ depending on which size you are. My skirts are 26.5″, which falls a couple of inches below my knees and is ideal for my petticoats which are generally on the longer side. Of course with the gathers they are full enough if you don’t want to wear a petticoat, but adding one makes them even more full! The waist measurements are very true to size; I ordered size XS which best fits a 24-25″ waist, and it fits me perfectly while still being really comfortable. And the pockets make these skirts even more amazing; they are so spacious that I can fit my wallet, enormous iPhone, keys and lipstick in there when I go out, so no bag required!

The Vixen full skirts are available in sizes XS to 4X through Doll Me Up Inc and retail for $94USD plus shipping ($8.99USD to NZ). The skirts are made from heavy weight stretch cotton sateen, so this is a great price for such a high quality skirt. You can also find a number of other Vixen by Micheline Pitt goodies there, or through Micheline’s Etsy store. I also recommend following the Vixen Instagram page to keep up to date with new releases!

Thank you so much to @cmjsnz for the photos – a tricky shoot as it may look sunny but the wind was so blustery!
