I am thrilled to be bringing you part 2 of my 1920s-themed shoot with Katherine from The Undefined Photography! In this part I’m reviewing the appropriately named Gatsby heels from Royal Vintage Shoes, made by Chelsea Crew. You can check out part 1 featuring the Alice dress from Gatsbylady here.
The Gatsby heels are available in Bronze/Gold (pictured here), Red/White, and Black/White, and as always the colour is very true to the pictures on the website. This is more of a muted gold and bronze rather than a brighter yellowy gold (which the sequins on the dress are), but that actually makes the Gatsby heels really versatile as for me they are more of a neutral shade, just way jazzier than your average nude/beige heel. I have already paired them a couple of times with outfits over on Instagram, and as I wear a lot of navy in winter I know they’ll be perfect to offset that shade during the cooler months here. And of course they were a perfect match (colour and style-wise) with the Alice dress!
These heels are a made from a faux leather, and their sturdiness reflects what I anticipate to be a long and happy life for us together. They have a T-strap closure and gorgeous brogue detailing across the toes. The gold and bronze tones really complement each other; the soft gold covers the majority of the shoe, with the bronze covering the toes and heel. They are a perfect heel height of 3″, which I have found perfect for wearing to work. The Gatsby heels are also lightly padded with an adjustable strap, so I dare you to get blisters in these beauties!
The Gatsby heels come in Chelsea Crew’s usual size range of US5/EU36 to US10/EU41. There’s only sizes US5 and US6 left in the Bronze/Gold colourway, but the Black/White and Red/White colourways both have the full sizing available. I am wearing my usual Chelsea Crew size of a US6/EU37 and I can safely say these are much more comfortable than the last pair I purchased (the Souffle heel) and restore my faith that a US6 in Chelsea Crew is the best for me (as that’s been my usual size with them in the past). I am usually a US6.5 but with Chelsea Crew I size down as they don’t come in half sizes; I have very narrow feet so I can get away with this, but do note that the Royal Vintage website recommends sticking with your usual size unless you have a wider foot, in which case they recommend sizing up.
The Gatsby retails for $65USD through the Royal Vintage Shoes website, which I feel is a snip for such a great pair of heels. And I will of course remind you of Royal Vintage’s very reasonable (and timely – my last pair arrived in a week) shipping options, which include international delivery!
Thank you so much again to Katherine of the Undefined Photography for her beautiful work shown here at the old Auckland Railway Station! You can check her photography out here, and she also has a personal style blog you can see here.
