Dressific recently launched an online store based in Australia, selling vintage- and retro-style dresses. Today’s post is all about this beautiful butterfly dress, which is coming soon to their website!
I was so lucky to receive this beautiful dress featuring slight puff sleeves, A-line skirt, and ribbon banding. Best of all, it’s lined AND in a butterfly print – swoon! For fear of not getting any actual butterflies to land on me if we went to the Butterfly Gardens (though I do love a theme), @cmjsnz and I made for the next best thing – the beautiful Eden Garden – for what turned out to be a very ‘Jane of the Jungle’ inspired shoot!
I was getting major 40s vibes from the moment I saw the butterfly dress, from its softly flared skirt and longer length (about 2″ below the knee) and yellow/navy/burgundy colouring on the cream background of the dress. The skirt is pleated and so is just full and long enough to take my trusty 26″ Vivien of Holloway petticoat. I really wanted to wear my newly acquired vintage hat so that dictated the rest of my yellow accessories, but the burgundy and navy will be perfect tones to pick out as we get into winter over here. And I’d just picked up an amazing bundle of 46 (!) pairs of gloves that I purchased for a song, so of course I had to give a pair of those a whirl!
The sizes at Dressific go from 0 to 20, and they have a handy size guide with measurements in inches to make sure you get it right. Kim from Dressific was really helpful and provided me with a size 0 based on my bust and waist measurements being closest to 32″ and 24″ respectively on the size chart. This meant that the butterfly dress was an absolute perfect fit, with no tailoring required! My only point to note this that this dress has a side zip, and because it fit so well when it was on that did mean there was a bit of a struggle to get it over my ‘do, especially as being cotton it had no stretch. But as always ladies, that just means either being careful getting it over your head or planning your getting ready routine so that you get dressed and THEN do your hair, which I’m sure we all need to do from time to time!
Dressific have a wide range of styles available on their website, for every occasion! This means there is also quite a variety in pricing; about half range from the $80-$120AUD mark, while many shorter styles are on sale for around $30-$50AUD, and then there are more formal and wedding dresses that range from $200-$500AUD. I highly recommend browsing through all the products as there’s bound to be something to catch your eye!
