Elizabeth maxi dress│Gatsbylady

Gatsbylady keep on bringing out the most amazing designs! The Elizabeth dress is a newer style that I just had to try – read on to find out my thoughts on it.

The Elizabeth dress is a maxi style, which Gatsbylady have recently been branching out into. As if their dresses weren’t incredible enough, now you can get yourself a full length beaded beauty, and for that extra bit of glam it even has its own train!

As with all Gatsbylady pieces, the Elizabeth dress features some utterly fantastic hand-embellished details. The sheer top portion is dotted with little beaded flowers, while vines of larger flowers made from a mixture of sequins and beads are scattered down the rest of the dress, so you feel like you’re wearing a work of art! The top beaded layer of the dress is sheer, and sits over an opaque lime green layer of fabric. The Elizabeth dress also features a long back zip which makes it super easy to get in and out of.

The lime green and royal blue colouring of the Elizabeth dress might be something you don’t see very often, but I think that’s what intrigued me about it even more! Lime is certainly something I don’t have a lot of in my wardrobe, but I found that it really pops and looks especially good with my red hair. As all of the detailing and the Julia headband are blue I opted to echo this in my accessories, with a matching necklace and heels. I decided that less was more as the dress is already so much of a statement in itself!

I would usually wear a size UK6, but I went for a UK8 this time as this was the smallest size available for the Elizabeth style. Gatsbylady dresses don’t run small, and so the UK8 is a little roomy on me but it’s not noticeable and I even prefer it as a shift style can make me more self-conscious. What I would recommend is making sure you find the right bra for this dress, as the sheer part of the dress dipped lower than I thought which meant I needed to do some adjusting so that my everyday bra didn’t show,  but I think if you were wearing a proper strapless bra then this wouldn’t be an issue.

The Elizabeth maxi dress is currently available in all sizes on the Gatsbylady website. The retail price is £159/$284NZD, and you can add the matching Julia headband for £19/$34NZD. There are also gorgeous raspberry and off-white versions if lime isn’t your thing! As a bonus Gatsbylady offer free worldwide shipping, as well as local returns for the UK, US, and Canada.
